Summertime Is The Time For Great Camping

Written by MichaelZ on June 21, 2010 – 6:50 pm -

Camping out can be a lot of fun. If you have kids, then you can have a lot of fun with them around a campfire at night. This has been the scene in hundreds of movies as well. There is just something about sitting around a campfire that ignites great memories, especially when you are making smores with your kids.

The kinds of activities that you can include into a camping trip can be as many as you like. A lot of these activities will depend on the place you have chosen to camp out at. If you have chosen a place that is near a lake or a river, then fishing and swimming are in order. You should sit down before your trip and write out a list of all the things you would need for these kinds of activities.

Are you going to sleep in a tent? You might choose to rent a cabin for camping. If you do decide to take along a tent, then make sure to add blankets and sleeping clothes on that list. You will need to make sure to have a fair amount of thick bedding for a comfortable night in a tent.

If you have a portable grill or propane stove that you use for camping, that is going to make things easier. However, many people with kids should try the campfire at least once for the sake of the kids and adventure they are on during a camping trip. Make sure to add the cookware you will use and a sharp knife set to your list.

You and your kids can have a lot of fun together fishing and swimming. Hiking trails are great fun as well. One other thing you might like to include into a great camping trip is mountain bike riding. If you have some diamondback bikes, then choose a camping site that has some bike trails for you to explore and enjoy.

One great thing to include into your camping trip is to tell stories around the campfire. These are going to be the stories that your kids tell your grandchildren someday around another campfire, so make them good. While ghost stories seem to be the most popular kinds, you might want to add in some that are less scary and more meaningful as well.

The time during the summer flies by fast when you and your family are out really enjoying it. Make the best of the summer time and go camping with your kids. They will have some of their best memories from these kinds of trips with you.

Family Fun Camping Excursions

Written by MichaelZ on March 13, 2010 – 10:12 am -

Camping is great for family bonding. Try a few days in the woods without any electronics for a time that the family learns to communicate and gets to know each other once again.

There is a lot of work to be done to make your camping trip an enjoyable experience. If you do not have a camp stove, you may have to cook over a campfire. Food may taste a bit different than you are used to and it will take longer to cook. When you finish, you will be reminded that there is no dishwasher at your campsite, so you will have to wash all dishes that are not disposable by hand.

The good news is that without electronics, you will have lots of time that you can use for nature walks or to go to see the ranger’s nightly shows. Take time to view all the wildlife as well as flowers that bloom along the path. Even if the kids are too noisy and scare the animals away, take time to enjoy the beautiful plants and wild flowers you will see on those hikes.  Be sure that you breathe in all the fresh air you can.

After the dishes have been put away, you can enjoy a family game night with s’mores for a late night treat.

That sounds like such fun, perhaps you should stop reading right now and get online to make your reservation right now. Stop reading and go on. Get ‘er done.

Now that we have cleared out that crowd, here is some more information for the rest of us. If that trip sounds exactly why you have quit camping, listen to this. Many campgrounds have electrical hookups. You will find plenty of power to keep all your favorite electronics charged and to keep the kids happy. If you do not want to cook, you can Mickey D’ a few blocks down the road so that you do not have to worry about paper plates, forks or clean up.

We do have one request. Do not let your neighbors in the campground know that you brought all the conveniences. They think you are roughing it just like they are.
