Air Travel-Pros and Cons

As the decades have passed air travel has continually grown in popularity.  Air travel is convenient and safe and these are the main reasons that have contributed to the increase in popularity of air travel.  The following are some of the positive and negative factors involving air travel.

Disadvantage: Airplanes Cause Pollution.

Pollution is the biggest problem caused by air travel.  Airplanes are responsible for sending greenhouse gases into our atmosphere and these gases contribute for things like global warming.  A lot of people are keen to minimize the effect of global warming on the planet and they find this a major setback. In order to overcome this problem many airlines nowadays make efforts to become more environmental friendly. One of the ways in which this is achieved by many of these airlines is to retrofit winglet devices that make the aircraft fuel efficient.  In addition, many airlines have started upgrading their fleet of aero planes to modern fuel efficient aircraft by spending millions of dollars.

Disadvantage: High Cost

High cost of travel makes many people avoid traveling by air. You may be able to travel by car to many destinations at a very cheap price as compared to traveling by flight. By flying on discount

it is possible to overcome this disadvantage of high cost. Ultimate decision for flying or driving is dependent on whether you get a good deal on the airfare or not.

Disadvantage: Fear of Flying

Many people simply do not like to fly.  In case anybody flew in a flight which experienced extreme turbulence or some type of other event they feel terrified and hence do not prefer to fly.

Advantage: Speed of Travel

traveling by air is much faster as compared to other means of transportation as long as these places are connected by air. The duration of travel by road between two different places in the United States may be a few days as compared to travel by flight which will take only a few hours. Since you are saving a number of days by flying you can enjoy longer vacations.

Advantage: Easy to Travel Long Distances

It is possible to cover long distances by flight in a reasonably short time whereas it is difficult to cover far off destinations by other modes of transportation. We can fly to any destination around the world. Flying to far off destinations takes longer duration; however they are still shorter than the time taken if you had to rely on alternative modes of transportation.

Advantage:  Safety

One of safest mode of travels out of all the forms of travel available is air travel.  We normally hear more about car accidents taking place as compared to air accidents. Even train derailments causing deaths are also being heard of very frequently. Air travel related disasters do happen but they occur much less frequently.  For many people this makes it an easy decision to choose air travel over any other form of transportation.

Choosing air travel is a personal decision, based on the factors discussed above along with a multitude factors not discussed here.  For most travelers safety, speed of travel and cost are the over riding factors.  As long as cost remains affordable air travel will continue to grow in popularity.

Touring Africa

Written by MichaelZ on November 20, 2009 – 2:52 am -

There are a number of things to think about when considering traveling to Africa. Whichever country that you decide to visit you will most likely be going by Air. The airline industry now has a many players in it you have many options to choose from when it comes to the airline that you will choose.

By making use of some tips and ideas that I will mention below you can get discounted airfares and flu cheaper. Firstly like I said before the industry is not dominated by the major airlines anymore, the smaller airlines have been a welcome relief for passengers and consumers as prices have drastically come down because of the increased competition.

What you need to do is schedule your visit appropriately. The prices of air tickets are not fixed and so you can never get any quotations for a particular airline. What you could possibly get is an estimate. The reason for this is that the prices vary according to the day of the week and the time of the year.

If you are going to be traveling mid week you will pay a lower fare than someone traveling over the weekend. Most people reserve traveling for over the weekends and this is referred to as the peak period of travel. Because there are limited seats that everyone is rushing for the prices are pushed up. The time of the year also matters. The peak period and seasons are not standard they will vary between the airlines.

You will be able to get current airfares, information on available discounts and routes at any one of these:durban to east london distance flights from cape town to joburg distance from cape town to bloemfontein

Be sure that you have got the current quote when you are making a booking. You can make a booking inperson at the airline ticket office or book by telephone. However if you want to get a discount then you are better of making an online booking. If a booking is made online the airline does not use any personnel, stationery and does not print anything so they save money. This information can be got from any tour operator or travel guide agency.
