Practically every year, the subject of a vacation comes up. The questions when to go, where to go and who to travel with must be answered. So often, the only places people consider are places within the United States and while it is an awesome thing to visit places in your own country, sometimes you want to do something different. Why not venture out of your own country this time? Some people think it is much more expensive but traveling to nearby places can actually be less expensive than staying in the U.S.A. You may think you will have to incur the expense of a passport but if you chose to travel to Mexico or the Caribbean, you can go to your computer and get a U.S. passport card online online and you will be all set to go.

Say you want to fly to Mexico or even venture a little deeper into Central America. For this, you will need a passport. And express American passport service, available online, means you can get a passport as quickly as you like, as opposed to having to play the waiting-and-hoping game required by standard passport service.

How frustrating is it to return home from your vacation only to find that there was an interesting place only miles from where you were but you missed it because you didn’t know about it. The United Nations through the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization has provided a list of World Heritage Sites that will assist you in locating those areas near your destination deemed to have natural and cultural significance.

There are twenty-nine World Heritage Sites that can be visited in Mexico and that is more sites than anywhere else in the Americas. El Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve and the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve are two of these sites that alone can make your trip to Mexico worth while. Not only do these places hold numerous species of life, many of their protected residents can be found no where else on earth.

Moving a little farther to the south, we find Central America and home to a host of World Heritage Sites. Off the coast of Costa Rica we find the Cocos Island which has become famous for its beautiful waters that draw scuba divers from all over the world. The vast depth of the water around this island creates a perfect habitat for some of the largest sea animals including shark, giant stingrays and dolphin. There are certainly a number of Caribbean islands you can choose from but this one is a jewel presenting the opportunity to explore volcanic caves and enjoy beautiful tropical vistas.

Known as the “Pompeii of the Americas”, The city of Joya de Ceren located in El Salvador, was totally destroyed by the eruption of Loma Caldera in 590 AD. The lava flow preserved the life of that day in a way that permits scientists as well as vacationers to explore the daily life of those living in that day. The landscape and even uneaten meals have been preserved and unearthed for the world to view and study.

Isn’t it wonderful to realize that numerous opportunities for awesome, international vacations can be found right outside of our own borders? The convenient location can even encourage an extended day since travel time is at a minimum. Remember, if you decide to travel to Mexico by car, you will only need a US passport card and since you can get a U.S. passport card online online, it is a convenient and cost effective way to get your necessary travel documents. If you plan to fly, an express passport service online will get you must want you need quickly and safely. So much beauty and history is waiting right outside our boarders. Get to know your Central American neighbors and you will be glad you did.
