Mexico Hotels And Areas
Written by MichaelZ on August 28, 2010 – 10:21 am -For an exotic holiday that will not break your budget, look no further than the sunny beaches of tropical Mexico. In Mexico, you can tour ancient pyramids, swim with the dolphins, snorkel crystalline waters—or simply hang your hammock on a white sand beach and watch the world go by. All types of modern amenities are available at Mexico hotels, so you can enjoy a luxurious holiday at an affordable price. You will find unique characteristics and attractions in each region of Mexico and so here is a brief guide to what you can expect in each of the different areas.
Cozumel
While Cozumel spent many years as a sleepy fishing island, today the island is a popular destination for snorkelers and scuba divers, as well as a common port-of-call for cruise ships in the area. Cozumel retains much of its laid back island charm and is quieter than the nearby island of Cancun. The island’s large selection of restaurants serves up some of the freshest seafood imaginable, as well as international favourites like pizza and hamburgers. One of the island’s most notable tourist attractions is Chankanaab National Park, a conservation area located in the centre of the island where you can swim with dolphins, sea lions and manatees, as well as explore pristine coral reefs. After a day spent exploring Cozumel’s beaches and reefs, you can retire to one of the island’s comfortable Mexico hotels for some much-needed rest and relaxation.
Mayan Riviera
As well as the resort communities of Puerto Aventuras, Puerto Morelos, Puerto Juarez, Playa Paraiso and Playa Maroma, this region extends along the coastline south of Cancun and includes the charming seaside city of Playa del Carmen . The region offers many of its most beautiful beaches and some of the most luxurious Mexico hotels. Visit some of the notable Mayan ruins in the area, including those of Tulum and Coba, if you tire of lounging about the beach at your resort. Other “must-see” attractions in the region include the lagoon of Xel-Ha where you can see thousands of species of aquatic life and the eco-amusement park Xcaret, which tells the story of the Mayan culture through hands-on exhibits of the area’s flora and fauna and an interactive show.
