A Spanish holiday to remember with cheap hotels in Costa Dorada

Written by MichaelZ on February 28, 2010 – 12:19 pm -

The Spanish mainland is an enduring favourite for UK holidaymakers. The country has remained one of the top most visited destinations by UK tourists abroad thanks to its combination of climate, scenery, culture and convenience. It will no doubt remain one of the top contenders for the foreseeable future, partly helped by the range of cheap hotels available at the moment. Visitors can find deals across all of Spain’s major tourist hot spots, from self catering options to all inclusive.

One hotel which offers value for money in abundance is the Costa Dorada’s H.TOP Molinos Park Hotel. It was in fact a recent award winner at the Hotels4u.com and Medhotels.com awards, in the ‘Leading Hotel in Mainland Spain’ category.

Surrounded by pine tree forest, H.TOP Molinos Park Hotel sits in a privileged position on a hill top where it enjoys stunning views over Salou resort centre and the Mediterranean Sea. The local area offers plenty to entertain, from shopping to bars and restaurants. However, for those who don’t want to venture out there is a huge amount to keep guests entertained onsite. During the summer season, a full entertainment programme is on offer, including pool games and competitions during the day, and live music, dancing and shows in the evening. A swimming pool, pool tables, Jacuzzi, solarium, games room, and facilities for archery, darts, water polo are just some of the leisure and relaxation options available. Meanwhile, there is a kids’ pool and playground plus children’s entertainment programme to keep younger members of the family happy.

H.TOP Molinos Park Hotel is a great example of the versatility offered by the hotels in Spain currently. From half board and full board to all inclusive, there is even the option to upgrade to Silver or Gold packages for even more value for money on holiday. Whatever your budget, the range of cheap Spain hotels on offer at the moment means there is bound to be something to suit.

Why Am I So Scared Of Flying?

Written by MichaelZ on February 28, 2010 – 12:19 pm -

Personally, I like to be in control of whatever I do. I am very much the type of person who steers well clear of any form of danger - theme parks, water parks, bungee jumps are all no go areas for me. I am not a person who needs that kind of buzz, if you can call it that, to give me pleasure. Some people call me a wimp, which is probably correct - I guess this comes from having a speech impediment and all of the horrible frustrating stuttering treatment that comes with it.

I am not afraid to admit that air travel has and will always petrify me. Travelling in my own car when I am the driver is something which I am fully in control of; where as in a plane all I do is sit there and hope for the best. I am not the pilot, I am unable to observe any servicing to the aircraft and I do not know its history.

I have, as I am in doubt the majority of people who read this article have, read that travelling by plane is the least dangerous form of travel. Guess what, I don’t care, I still would rather drive.

There has been a recent television series called Lost. I thought it was a superb program and I have watched every episode. It did not help my phobia of flying though.

Due to the popularity of Lost, there has since been a lot of newspaper articles with people describing how they survived an aeroplane crash. I wish I had never read their stories as I can only imagine the fear and terror they must have been through.

I offer upvc doors and I also work for a voucher codes company on a part time basis. I am required as part of these jobs to travel and that of course means travelling by plane from time to time.

I had a rather funny experience the last time I travelled on a plane. The take off and landing are always the worst aspects of the whole experience for me, and this is where I am at my most scared. We we travelling down the runway, gathering speed, I gripped the armrest tightly, hoping that would help and thankfully the plane rose into the air. The person in the seat next to me then asked if he could have his hand back. I had not been gripping the armrest but had been gripping his hand. I said sorry and continued to be brave.

Vacations In Cochin (India)

Written by MichaelZ on February 27, 2010 – 4:38 pm -

Cochin, also known as Kochi, is a paradise of sandy beaches and waving palm trees. It is within the state of Kerala, which is a narrow strip of coastal territory in Southern India that stretches down the Western Ghats, and reaches up to the Arabian sea.

Cochin is comparatively cleaner and calmer than many Indian tourist destinations. In fact, you would be forgiven for mistaking the feel and look of the place for a small, traditional European city. The influence of the British, Dutch and Portuguese, who all governed there at one time or another, can still be felt in many aspects of life, not limted to social attitudes, architecture and infrastructure.

It is a religious place, and people who live there have varied ethnic backgrounds. You will find Christians, Muslims, Hindus and Jews living together harmoniously and celebrating all festivals with enthusiasm. All places of worship are present (churches, mosques, temple and synagogues), and there are some fantastic examples of them, with colorful and interesting histories.

Cochin’s most famous landmark is a set of Chinese fishing nets at harbor, which is the oldest part of the city. These fishing nets are over a hundred years old, yet they are still used on a daily basis. As well as watching the fishermen at work, you can also join in and help them should you wish to do so. There are, of course, lots of other worthwhile sights there too, more than enough to occupy you for a week or two.

Cochin, and coastline that extends from it, has some of the most exotic beaches in India. The coconut lined sands and clear blue sea, make a picture perfect destination to spend to your vacation. The beaches are unspoilt too, with typically just a few beach huts and restaurants lining the shores, so you can enjoy the surroundings just as nature created them.

As for accommodation, you should consider one of the many homestays there, which provide a much needed additional source of income to the locals, while at the same time giving you a chance to experience the real Cochin. Under this homestay concept, you live at the home of a local family, who will show you around and help you arrange tours and activities.
