How does an airline compensate for varying passenger weights?

scubakobbe asked:

Obviously, an airline/captain cannot know for sure how much each passenger is going to weigh. So what do they do to make sure they don’t overload the airplane?
Is that a reason why they will leave seats empty sometimes?
I have been wondering how they do that for awhile.

Do Airline pilots need to know how to swim?

Mr Quiet asked:

I was reading on the Qantas Airline pilot application they ask a question can you swim 50 meters fully clothed and tread water after that for 3 minutes! Do you think if you said I can’t swim they would consider my application? If they don’t could I sue them for discrimination?

I have been told several ways to get free airline tickets, some of them are true but never happen because of the probability of the situation, but is there an easy way and a more probable way to get free or almost free airline tickets?
