Pro’s and Con’s of holidays to Sri Lanka!
Written by MichaelZ on March 9, 2010 – 12:53 pm -This is the holiday i have chosen for several reasons. This is going to be one of the biggest holidays of the year according to several tour operators. However, I do believe that some of those that go there do not really know what they are walking into. This is where I thought i might be able to help by sharing a small amount of knowledge with everyone!
So we will start off with those all important Pros, what are the good points to going on holiday in Sri Lanka? You have gotta love how cheap it is. Getting there may cost a fair bit of money but once you are there, spending won’t really be happening all that much. The hotels here are an absolute wonder, so once your in your sorted. You will be treated like a king, great room service at all hotels, and at most you will have great day spa facilities. There is also a lovely chance for you to indulge in a safari, the majority of the time people like to explore this country, and this activity allows you to do this. If you want to try and experience a great time of adventure then this is great for you, safaris are available all year round in the jungles and rain forests of Sri lanka. Sri Lanka offers a great experience of fun and excitation for anyone who visits.
This isn’t a holiday without any down falls, there are a few things that you may want to know about it. You have to be wary of what time of the year you travel out to Sri Lanka, the Rainy season takes place from October to January. The rain is truly immense. However some down’t mind the rain, the only problem is that this isn’t the nly annoying thing about Sri Lanka. Unfortunately the country is in a civil war (which is supposed to have ended) but things are still a little tense. Just make sure that you don’t enter the forests without a guide or a tour, it is important to make sure someone is with you at all times. Then there is the injections that you need to prevent yourself from obtaining any nasty illnesses, now this is the worst for me!
Sri Lanka holidays have become very popular, but if you want something more relaxing and less dangerous, you should try Maldives holidays or Caribbean holidays!

No Appeal Foods
Written by MichaelZ on March 9, 2010 – 12:53 pm -There are so many disgusting sounding dishes out there and although some of them may taste pretty nice I think a lot of people would rather order in outside caterers than have to try some of these horrible sounding dishes. Here are just some of the worst ones.
Animal Penis
Out of all of the animal parts I wouldnt want to try, this has to be at the top of the list. On the other hand some of them are supposed to be quite nice when they have been cooked properly. Yak, Donkey, Oxen and on the occasion you will see a seal penis cropping up. Kangaroo testicles are also not unheard of as you will know if you have seen I’m A Celebrity: Get Me Out Of Here. The chinese actually think that if you are eating these you will see health benefits. There do not seem to be any apparent downsides to this that’s for sure.
Rat Anyone
This dish is mostly found in Thailand and is a great way of getting out of those pest situations. In all seriousness the rat is cooked in an open fire and then placed in hot chilli. Perhaps if you get a bit hungry and the supermarket is closed you could go hunting rat?
Brains?
Both Monkey and Pork Brains are eaten across the world and although it is said that Monkey brains can and will give humans some of the diseases that the monkey could have been carrying they are still eaten. Pork brains are far more popular and they seem to come pre packed in milky gravy.
If you are going to be plannign a wedding soon perhaps you should hunt down these dishes and give them a go?. I am sure the guests would love a side of monkey brains with their salad.
Better yet go after wedding caterers to get some tasty food on the important day.

The Health of Your Teeth and Gums - Special Needs
Written by MichaelZ on March 8, 2010 – 6:40 am -This fictional character expresses the point of view of a patient with special dental needs:
I am an ortho patient – that is what my dentist tells me. He suggests that I visit the hygienist regularly for my oral prophylaxis. I have been too religious in doing so but I feel that it is so expensive for me to maintain regularly seeing the hygienist. I feel that it sometimes becomes impractical. Of course I know, I need extra care now that I am wearing fixed appliance in my mouth. I can observe how my gums look inflamed after three months of not seeing my hygienist. It made me realize that I still need to do home care to keep my gums healthy and my breath fresh all the time.
Sometimes I hate how my breath smells, it feels so dry and I have many sores. I feel that it is beginning to be a burden to me and of course my orthodontist and hygienist. I asked the patients, I am familiar with, at the dental office of my orthodontist which happens to be their orthodontist also.
They suggested the use of oral irrigator since it would not be easy to use floss all the time. It might just cause me to skip flossing and do nothing but brushing which we all know is not sufficient to clean the teeth at this time.
They even suggested a mouthwash that is all-natural and chemical-free. It is not harsh to the gums – it freshens as it cleans and prevents cavities. Whoa! What a relief?! I have wanted something like this all my life. I use floss but I could not stand it that I needed to do it on a daily basis. It is time consuming and it makes my gums really sensitive. It has been causing my gums to bleed endlessly.
Here are three tools that might be helpful for someone’s home care in a situation like this.
1. The hydrofloss oral irrigator. This powerful device can help to reduce the buildup of plaque and bacteria.
2. ;Therabreath mouthrinse to help keep the mouth pH regulated and that might help fight the germs that can cause bad breath and gum disease
3. Essential oils, like those in oramd - however, this alone is not enough. You should focus on the mechanical break up of plaque on a daily basis.
